Native & Natural

Photography is a big part of what makes the British Wildlife Centre so special, providing unique wildlife photo opportunities, difficult to achieve in the wild. To recognise the talents of our visitors we are pleased to launch, for the second year, the BWC Native & Natural Photo Competition.

The competition is open to all, with the proviso that images must be taken here at the Centre during 2012 and submitted into any of these six categories:

  • Animal Portrait: a classic portrait, the animal fills the shot.

  • Animals in Motion: animals leaping, running, flying, tussling, swimming.

  • Animals and their Keepers: animals interacting with our keepers.

  • At Home in their Habitat: animals in a most natural setting, it could almost be taken in the wild

  • Fauna Fun: animals sometimes do the funniest things, if you've caught it on film, submit it with a humorous caption

  • Junior: animal images from younger photographers, entrants to be age 16 and under.

Prizes

Our judging panel, which includes BWC owner David Mills and Head Keeper Matt Binstead, will select a winner and runner-up for each category. Category winners will receive a year's membership , allowing unlimited access to the Centre during normal opening hours.

The overall winning shot, chosen from the category winners, will receive an exclusive day of photography with special access to the animals, including species not featured in our Photographic Days. The winner will be accompanied by our Head Keeper (and award-winning photographer) Matt Binstead who will provide the best wildlife photographic opportunities possible.

Winning images will appear in our newsletter, website and Keepers Blog, with links to the winners own website if required. All winning and runner-up images will be displayed in our Visitor Centre.
