Fox cubs (April 2008)
Our vixen, Honey, has given birth at the grand old age of twelve. We've now seen three cubs and all are coming out of the den quite regularly. This picture was taken on 25 April, showing one of the cubs at about 6 weeks old.

Stoats in Ermine (January 2008)
A prolonged spell of cold weather before Christmas was the trigger for our stoats to grow a white winter coat, called ermine. Some have retained a little darker colouring on their head (and the black tip to the tail remains), but others are almost completely white. In their new outdoor enclosures, they are also quite easy to see
- if you're quick!

Runner-up in Tourist Board Awards (November 2007)
We are delighted to announce that we were placed runners-up in the prestigious Small Visiter Attraction Awards run by the South East Tourist Board. It's no mean feat, considering the extensive competition in an area stretching from Oxfordshire and Hampshire in the West, to Kent in the East, and testimony to the hard work and dedication of all our staff (and animals) - so well done to them!

British Birds of Prey (October 2007)
On 31 October at 7.30pm, the last in our very popular series of talks, will be by Yvonne Taylor of the British Hawking Association. Come and find out all about birds of prey, how and where they live and their relationship with man since earliest times. A number of live birds will be on display during the evening. Tickets available now at £6 (Members £5)

Teachers Open Afternoon (September 2007)
On Monday 15 October we are holding a free open afternoon to show primary school teachers our new Field Study Centre facilities. Next summer we will be open for school visits to our nature reserve, including pond-dipping, woodland and field surveys and much more. More...

The Nature of Britain (September 2007)
On Wednesday 26 September we welcome Simon Bell, a producer at the BBC Natural History Unit, to give a talk based on the forthcoming BBC TV series The Nature of Britain, some of which was filmed here. For more details visit the What's On page.

Young muntjac deer (August 2007)
Two of our female muntjac deer have recently given birth to young. You can now see them running around in The Copse.

The Dormouse (August 2007)
On Wednesday 29 August we welcome Pat Morris to give a talk on one of Britain's most elusive small mammals - the dormouse. For more details visit the What's On page.
